Board Members

ISPI San Diego Board meetings are open to all members, and we invite you to attend to learn more about chapter activities and ways you can get involved. Monthly board meetings are held on Monday evenings. There are no board meetings in November or December, as this time period is set aside for transition meetings between incoming and outgoing officers. Here is a description of our board positions.

Aaron Lorenz, President

alAaron has lived in San Diego since 1993 and has been employed in the technology field since 1998. He is currently pursuing his Master of Arts degree in Learning Design and Technology from SDSU. Aaron designs Web 2.0 and SaaS applications, and is the Assistant Director of Technology and Training for the Julian Charter School.

Phillip Tanzilo, Past-President
Phillip has an extensive background in the fields of Learning and Performance Improvement. His experience has found him making substantative contributions as a  Trainer, Consultant, Strategist, and Instructional Designer. His competencies include Innovation, Instructional Design, Operations,  Coaching, Profit and Loss, Strategic Planning, Program/Project Management, to name a few. Phillip has also served as President of ASTD  in 2006 and as National Chapter Advisor from 2007-2010.

Barbara Dorris, VP Marketing

Barbara Dorris joined the board in January of 2012 as Vice President of Marketing. With over twenty five years of expererience in marketing and communications, she brings her enthusiasm and professional marketing perspective undefined not to mention her passion for our industry to the role. This year, Barbara is renewing our chapter branding.

She has developed our marketing plan and is working on brand and style standards that includes ensuring all chapter communication is accurate and consistent. She coordinates with board members for their subject matter expertise to create newsletters and develop chapter collateral material.

Jasmine Wettlaufer, VP Member Services

Jasmine is a learning and technology professional currently working for Interactions, a division of Daymon World Wide, located in San Diego, CA. She administers the Learning Management System as well as develops learning solutions such as eLearning and blended training. She has several years of experience and is currently finishing the Masters program for Educational Technology at San Diego State University


Sean Woodard, VP Finance

swSean Woodard's work experience reaches across an array of disciplines, fields, and industries. He has a background in instructional design, performance technology, banking, and occupational health and safety, and through his work in many organizations, he has become familiar with a range of corporate cultures and strategies. Sean's expertise is in the area of organizational effectiveness, including process redesign, individual and team performance improvement, and change management, with a focus on aligning these with

the strategic and financial goals of an organization. Sean is a Ph.D. candidate and received a master of science, both in instructional systems technology, from Indiana University-Bloomington. He earned a bachelor of science in industrial hygiene and safety from Saint Augustine's College and is a Distinguished Honor Graduate of the United States Army Finance Corps

Greg Ervice, VP Membership

Greg is currently with HD Supply as a Training Specialist. He previously held training positions in both the military and civilian sectors with the USAF and Northrop Grumman, Pearson VUE and the County of San Diego. Prior to retiring from HP, Greg was the Training Manager at their Rancho Bernardo site. Greg joined the SD Chapter early in 2012 as the Volunteer coordinator and was then elected to the position of VP of Membership. His prime goal is to ensure a vibrant membership through engagement and outreach.

Gio Jones, VP Technology

gjGio is a learning and development professional currently working for 2-1-1 San Diego, a nationally recognized information and referral non-profit, located in San Diego, CA. He currently provides his talents as an intern innovating on-boarding and employee learning projects (eLearning & Instructor Lead Training) as well as administration of the organization's learning management system. Gio has several years of experience as a technical writer / editor and will complete his Masters (M.A.) in Educational Technology from the San Diego State University in May, 2014.

Jeanne Strayer, CPT, VP Programs

Jeanne Strayer holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology from San Diego State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.  She has over twenty years in the training and performance improvement field, holding the position of Director of Training positions within several companies as well as managing her own consulting firm.
